Stemware Rack

Helping you research what to look for when buying a wine bottle holder, stemware, a stemware rack, wine glass racks or a liquor cabinet

Owning stemware or any type of wine or spirits glasses is generally common for people who enjoy drinking wine or liquor or who have guests over their home. Of course, a good thing to have is a place to store all of these items, whether you want to show them off or protect them. A stemware rack is a great option for keeping all of your stemware organized and close together.

There are many different types of racks to choose from and they mostly depend on personal preference in terms of the look, design, how many glasses they hold and price. Typical construction of a stemware rack utilizes wood, metal or glass materials. Wood-based racks offer a nice homey feel when light woods are used or a more sophisticated design when dark woods are used. Metal frames are generally good for a more modern look while glass could add a nice dimension to the piece of furniture.

Whichever stemware rack you choose, you’ll probably decide on one over another based on the number of glasses it holds. If you own a certain amount of glasses and think that you may be buying more at a certain point in the near future, you’ll obviously only look at racks that can accommodate at least that many pieces. The range for capacity is pretty big with smaller racks holding as little as four glasses while larger racks being able to hold as many as thirty six.

Another decision to make is whether you want to have your stemware rack mounted or free standing on the floor. A mounted rack is a nice way to add something more permanent to a room. It also can take up less floor space in case you have size requirements or live in small quarters. If you do decide to choose a mounted option, make sure you like the place it will be since it will most likely be up on the wall permanently.

A free standing stemware rack is a nice option as well and provides you with the flexibility to move it around if you want to change around the layout of your room. Free standing racks generally have other compartments for accessories and are generally a bit more versatile compared with mounted racks. They do take up more floor space, but in larger rooms, they’re nicer to look at and sometimes easier to access since they are on the ground. For even more flexibility, look into a stemware rack that is built on wheels so that it can be easily pushed around.

When analyzing the different types of racks, it is always good to take into account the ability of the rack to hold extra related items. A good stemware rack will have a small towel holder, a place to put a corkscrew or bottle opener and maybe even a compartment for coasters. In addition, some stemware racks are combined with wine bottle holders or liquor cabinets to allow you to keep everything in one place. Whichever type of rack you choose, make sure it fits nicely into the intended room, based both on its size and its aesthetic appropriateness.
